Farming the Black Tabby in Silverpine

By Patricia Adams

Good news for pet fans on World Of Warcraft. Pets are not only cute and fun to collect, but they are also a good source of gold if you know how to work this to your advantage.

Like White Kittens, you can buy these for as cheap as 60s each from Lil Timmy who wanders around Stormwind. White Kittens are limited supply items so they can be a bit difficult to get. But if you do manage to get some of these White Kittens from Lil Timmy, you can sell these for up to 250g in the alliance auction house, and up to as much as 500g if you do cross-faction trading and sell it on the horde side.

That's not the biggest gold-maker when it comes to pets though. There's still the Black Tabby which is a horde only, or horde specific cat that's only available as a drop from Dalaran Spellscribes which are found in Silverpine Forest. They are level 21 mages who spawn every 4 hours.

It doesn't take very long to get Black Tabby drops because the drop rates for this item is quite high. You just need a bit of patience due to the 4 hour spawn interval. A good way to effectively farm these things is to at least have a level 20 character in order to kill this mob easily.

There are 3 spawn spots for the Dalaran Spellscribe, they are all within Amber Mill in Silverpine Forest. The first spawn spot is the second shack on the left when you're standing right in the entrance of the compound. The second one is the main building right in front of you, it should spawn in the largest room there. The third Dalaran Spellscribe spawn spot is inside the building which is the farthest to your right.

You dont have to sit there all day, you can just log in every couple of hours to check if the Spellscribe has re-spawned. Use a macro, or just type "/target dalaran" to see if he is present, then kill him and pick up your loot.

If you are consistent in doing this, you will be able to get 3 or more Black Tabby Cats a week. You will be able to sell them for 500g to 600g in the horde auction house. However, if you really want a lot more gold for your effort, you can sell them through cross-faction trading, Black Tabbys normally go for 1500g to 2500g each if you sell them in the neutral auction house or the alliance auction house.

Black Tabby farming can be a really good gold-making opportunity taking into consideration the fact that it's not that hard to get. It just takes some consistency and a bit of patience on your part for the constant logging in and checking of spawns.
